FAQ
What are you like to work with?
If you’re looking for a quiet photographer, who makes nice small talk and that you will forget is there - then I am not the right one for you!
At each wedding I have photographed, I found myself being a photographer/wedding planner/hype-girl extraordinaire. Think of me as your personal assistant, here to help keep the show running smoothly in-amongst capturing the day.
In addition to capturing candid, natural moments - I will guide you and anyone in front of the camera to ensure your traditional portraits are both beautiful and flattering. From making sure phones and sunglasses are handed over and kept safe in my bag, to the placement of your hands, and a whole back-catalogue of tragic Dad Jokes - I have you covered!
Do you charge for travel?
Travel is charged for sessions further than 30km from town, at a rate of 50c/km
Deposits are non refundable but are transferable one time to another date dependent on availability.
If the client cancels one time with at least 14 days notice, the deposit is transferable. If cancelled a second time regardless of due notice, the deposit is forfeited and non-refundable.
Deposits for sessions on an extended travel plan (i.e. substantial road trip for the purpose of offering sessions to people in remote locations) are non-refundable.
Do I have to order prints through you?
All packages include a store credit to use in the online store, ensuring access to premium prints and products. I highly recommend ordering prints through the printing lab connected to your online gallery, but it isn't required. The difference in quality is huge when it comes to ordering through a professional lab, so I always love to help with prints!
What gear do you use?
I use all professional grade Canon equipment, including L-Series glass.
What kind of insurance do you have?
I hold Public Liability insurance.
Why do prices vary so much between photographers?
When choosing a photographer you will have plenty of options, and you may wonder why prices and packages vary so much from business to business.
To keep it simple, it comes down to experience, education, quality of service, products included, and business structure.
Stephanie Coombes Creative is a Professional Photography business. My pricing is based first and foremost off the exceptional experience and high quality artwork I provide.
To run a professional business, I invest in professional grade equipment, equipment insurance and Public Liability Insurance.
Additional business expenses include vehicle maintenance (especially important when servicing rural and remote Australia), equipment maintenance, subscriptions to various softwares, tax, superannuation… you get the idea.
Some photographers may be able to offer cheaper prices because they do photography in addition to full-time work, as a “side-hustle”, and/or structure their business differently and do not incur some of the same expenses. I know that when I first started out, I did not account for paying myself superannuation, tax, the cost of fuel and maintaining my vehicle - money from photography was extra spending money, or “fun money”.
My advice is to do your homework - we’re all different, with different equipment, experience, and we’re all offering a different client experience. Have a look at different photographers, and go through their work to ensure they are consistent with the quality they provide. Think about what is on offer (e.g # images, physical prints etc.) and what your needs are. In the long run you’ll be thankful that you took the extra time to choose the right photographer to invest in.
